Who we are
We know what you need to know about managing the legal risks of ESI. ESI Attorneys is a boutique firm focused solely on advising clients on how to manage their electronically stored information (“ESI”), including helping clients prepare for and wade through data compliance and e-discovery issues. Our lawyers are experienced litigators with over 30 years of combined experience representing organizations in the manufacturing, securities, financial, and health care industries. We understand the legal issues in information compliance and e-discovery, the technology that is necessary to make your organization an effective business, and how to put these things together to manage the costs and risk inherent in managing ESI. We understand how the various e-discovery technologies on the market work, and their pros and cons for managing ESI in a given environment.
The complexities of storing and producing ESI require dedicated information law counsel. Keeping up with the changes in the law and technology in information compliance and e-discovery is a full-time job. That’s what we do. Every day judges issue new decisions in e-discovery and agencies consider new requirements for data maintenance and production – we are on top of all these developments in the law. We are involved in organizations looking to shape the development of the law in this area, including the Sedona Conference and its working groups on Electronic Document Retention and Production and International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure, ARMA, and the ABA. Then we share the latest developments with you, our clients. We work with records managers, IT managers and in-house counsel to understand the needs of an organization pre-litigation and to act as counsel during litigation to negotiate preservation obligations and production duties throughout the course of litigation. We follow the changes in technology, not just in the e-discovery arena, but across the industry with an eye towards assisting our clients on how to leverage their existing internal capabilities to manage ESI and reduce the cost and risk in e-discovery.
No fluff, just practical advice. That’s how we work. Our goal is to get you comfortable with managing your ESI to control costs and risk within your organization. We do that by learning about your company, understanding your needs, and helping you to identify appropriate, cost effective solutions to meet those needs. If a technological solution is needed or desired, we can assist you with identifying the appropriate solution, negotiating the contract with the vendor, implementing it, and tying it into your existing process for managing ESI. We provide training for inside and outside counsel on technology, work with IT and records to understand the legal obligations in managing ESI, and demonstrate for all business units the cost benefits of putting in place and carrying out a process for managing your ESI. Give us a call to see how we can help.
