E-discovery Training

To effectively implement any practices related to e-discovery, the people involved need to understand their obligations and how those obligations translate into what they physically need to do on a daily basis to manage ESI and prepare to produce it in litigation.

ESI Attorneys trains outside and in-house counsel on their obligations under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as state rules (as they trickle into being), case law, and provides practical solutions for how to help clients produce ESI while minimizing cost and risk to the organization. We provide several different types of training, each of which can be customized to your organization’s needs and IT infrastructure:

Information Technology (IT) 101 for Lawyers and Paralegals

This unique, ground-breaking seminar presents, in a clear and understandable manner the “nuts and bolts” of corporate IT systems, focusing on those elements most relevant to electronic discovery.  The seminar is organized around three primary topics:

  • IT Infrastructure
  • Microsoft Exchange and Outlook E-mail System
  • Backup Tape and Disaster Recovery Systems

Designed for the non-technical person, this training session teaches you the nuts and bolts of an IT infrastructure.  Topics covered include the building blocks of the infrastructure, i.e. file servers, and Microsoft Windows technologies, corporate email systems, and disaster recovery and backup systems.

E-discovery 101

This training is designed for the lawyers who’ve heard about e-discovery and know they should be assisting their clients in these issues, but don’t know where to start.  We cover the rules in detail, the issues currently being considered by the courts, and outline the issues to be aware of when advising clients in the black hole that is e-discovery.

Building a Defensible ESI Data Map

This intensive, interactive workshop, lead by ESI Attorneys, is content rich, and tailored to your organization’s unique circumstances and objectives. This proprietary program provides organizations the information, guidance, tools, and best practices needed to create a defensible ESI data map.

How to Build a Defensible ESI Data Map was developed for legal departments (corporate, government, public, private) and law firms who want to learn the fundamentals about ESI data mapping.  The workshop focuses on the practical aspects of ESI data mapping, while at the same time providing a firm grounding in the “theory” underlying the methodologies and tools.

This day long seminar is designed to give you the tools necessary to build a data map for your organization.  For organizations interested in taking the seminar, we strongly suggest that representatives from legal, IT and records attend together to best understand the type of collaboration required within the organization to create and maintain a viable ESI data map.  The cost for the seminar includes attendance for three individuals from each organization.  The seminar is informal in presentation, and invites conversation among attendees as to how other organizations are approaching issues, what solutions they have implemented to address managing ESI and the successes and failures of each.
