ESI Assessments
One of the most frequent things we hear is “we don’t know where to start to bring our information systems into legal compliance.” We can help you figure out where to start by evaluating a number of factors specific to your organization and helping you put a plan in place to ensure compliance with controlling regulations and to move forward in other aspects of information management, e-discovery, or just getting organized. We do that by conducting an assessment of where the company currently stands in managing electronic information, information compliance, what your litigation portfolio looks like, where risk lies, what records management looks like and how your IT systems are set up. Then we work with you to determine your goals and to develop a plan to meet them.
Generally done on a flat fee basis, an assessment includes:
- Review of current records and email management policies, practices and schedules
- Review of your litigation portfolio for the last 5-10 years (depending on the industry)
- Review of your IT infrastructure
- Analysis of where you should be based on current regulations in your industry and case law and obligations under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for electronic discovery
- Assessment including a written evaluation of where your organization is, and recommendations for what to consider moving forward
The cost of an assessment depends on a number of factors, most importantly what you want to see as an end product and the complexity of your infrastructure. A small organization with a few employees, one location and very little litigation but that wants to avoid risk is much different than a global manufacturer with multiple facilities, a decentralized IT structure and thousands of users (employees). An assessment starts with an information gathering session so we can learn about your organization and better understand the scope and goals of the assessment. We will then develop a proposal for you with a fee structure that meets your needs. The beauty of the assessment is that it can take whatever shape is best for your organization. Our goal for the assessment is to help you understand where you are as an organization, where you want to be, and how to get started moving to that goal.
